How to read the numbers

  1. 1

Pick the category, get the referral fee

Amazon charges the referral fee on the total sales price — item price plus any shipping or gift wrap the buyer pays, excluding tax — at the greater of the category rate and its per-unit minimum. Tiered categories like clothing (5% up to $15, 10% to $20, 17% above) apply each rate only to the portion inside its band.

  2. 2

Size tier and weight decide fulfillment

Standard-size fees depend on the price band: under $10 sits on its own discounted schedule, exactly $10 or $50 belongs to the middle band. Weights round up — 4-ounce steps for large standard, 2-ounce bands for small standard, whole pounds for bulky and oversize — and dimensional weight counts when it beats the unit weight.

  3. 3

The peak window is real money

From October 15 to January 14 Amazon charges the holiday rate card, an average of $0.32 more per unit, and the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge stacks on top of it. Amazon charges fulfillment fees when the unit ships, so October orders that leave the warehouse on the 15th bill at peak rates.

  4. 4

What this tool does not include

Inbound placement and defect fees, monthly and aged-inventory storage, returns processing, advertising, and the $39.99 professional subscription stay out of the math — put them in Other per-unit costs as a rough allowance. What changed in 2026

Three dates set the fees this calculator uses.

Jan 15, 2026

New rate card

Fulfillment fees updated (average +$0.08/unit, up to +$0.51 for small standard over $50). Large bulky split into Small Bulky and Large Bulky, with bulky fees down — the small bulky base fell from $8.84 to $6.78. Low-inventory fees moved to FNSKU level.

Apr 17, 2026

3.5% fuel surcharge

A fuel and logistics surcharge of 3.5% on US and Canada fulfillment fees — 1.5% in Europe — charged on the fulfillment fee, not the sale price, and still running with no announced end date.

Oct 15, 2026

Holiday peak rates

The peak rate card runs to January 14, 2027, averaging +$0.32 per unit over off-peak, with the 3.5% surcharge stacking on top. Rates revert to 2026 off-peak on January 15.

Questions

Does the $10 or $50 price band change my fulfillment fee?

Yes, for standard-size items. Amazon's 2026 tables carry three price bands: under $10 (the discounted low-price FBA schedule), $10–$50, and over $50, which rose the most in January. Items priced at exactly $10 or $50 count as the middle band.

My order was placed before October 15 — is it peak?

It depends on when it ships. Fulfillment fees are calculated and charged when units leave the fulfillment center, so anything shipped on or after October 15 bills at peak rates even if the buyer ordered earlier.

Is the 3.5% fuel surcharge included in these numbers?

The rate table values are pre-surcharge, and the calculator shows the surcharge as its own line, then totals them. Amazon charges it on the fulfillment fee, so on a $2.62 fee it's about 9 cents — roughly $0.17 per unit on the average US order.

Why does dimensional weight matter for bulky items?

For everything except small standard and oversize over 150 lb, the billable weight is the greater of unit and dimensional weight — L×W×H ÷ 139, with a minimum 2-inch width and height. A bulky box that ships half-empty bills on the space it takes, not what it weighs.

What about storage, inbound and returns fees?

They're outside this calculator on purpose: they depend on your inventory turns and shipping plans, not on a single order. Budget them under Other per-unit costs, or check the Profit Analytics dashboard in Seller Central for the SKU-level truth.

How current is the rate card?

Fees were transcribed from Amazon's official Seller Central pages and verified on October 13, 2026, covering the current off-peak and holiday peak cards. When Amazon publishes new tables — typically each January — this page gets regenerated from the same source.
